ResumoThe study area is located in SW Amazon Craton. This region is part of the WNW-ESE Intraplate Strike-Slip Belt with Meso/Neoproterozoic ages. Significant advances in understanding the tectonic stratigraphic evolution of the central southern region in the Rondônia state were acquired by using the following: 1- spaceborne optical (Landsat TM) imagery; 2- aerial side looking radar (GEMS) imagery; 3- digital integrated products Landsat TM/aerial gammaspectrometry and; 4- field work along previous selected profiles. The Proterozoic period in the region was characterised by an intensive, extensive and persistent granitization. The oldest Proterozoic magmatic event is represented in the region by the widespread mangerite-charnockite-granite association (MCG) and mafic rocks of the Serra da Providência Intrusive Suite (1570 1530 Ma). After several magmatic events, the Proterozoic granitogenesis was closed by anorogenic A-type rapakivi granites of the Younger Granites of Rondônia (YGR) (1.00-0.97 Ga). The more important tin deposits in the Rondônia state are closely associated with the late-stage peraluminous granites of the YGR. The optical remote sensing data (TM-Landsat-5) requires a radiometric and geometric corrections to digital integration with airborne gamma-ray data. The gamma-ray data were corrected and resampled to a common pixel size (30 m) and transformed to pseudo-colour images. The digital integration was based on digital image processing techniques (IHS transformation). Airborne X-band SAR mosaics were acquired by GEMS-1000 (General Electric Mapping SAR) in airborne flights with a north south direction and illumination to west. The geological interpretation of these products makes possible to identify the principal lithological units and seven orientations of crustal weakness lines with regional extensions in the studied area: ±N80W, ±N70W, ±N40W, ±N-S, ±N30E, ±N60E and ±N80E. The recognition of regional kinematic indicators in the remote sensing imagery it was possible to identify three ductile and brittle transpression phases, locally transtensive. In conformity with shear belt granite emplacement models, it is suggested that transtensive structures like rhombo-chasms (brittle levels) and releasing bends (brittle to ductile levels) created favourable conditions for emplacement of granitic massifs in the studied area.
